Winter's Sun
There is something about the winter’s sun,
that aspires hope after struggle.
the wait for tomorrow after the long shivering nights;
is the optimism attached to the winter’s sun.
There is something about the winter’s sun.
the florescence of the beaming rays
the calmness of the flowing sunshine:
convinces us about the warmth of the winter’s sun
There is something about the winter’s sun.
the tender hugging of the sunbeams on
the exposed numb body, confirms about
the comfort provided by the winter’s sun
There is something about the winter’s sun.
for whom is the suffering finite
the warmth of the sun is also for them.
a part of shine belongs to them
Consolation from the winter’s sun.
Poem By Azmad Naushad.
Welcome To My January's Personal Project:
I spent almost half of January thinking about what I wanted to do next. It was as if my mind and body needed rest cause I couldn't come up with an answer to the question, nor did I force myself to think about it. In that paused state of mind, I wanted to steer clear of anything related to commercial photography.
Slowly, as I gathered my thoughts, one thing became evident. I wanted to do something more with my photography than just being stuck in the studio capturing pictures.
I wanted to go out and capture the raw beauty of nature and document how time slowly passes in its own way. The only way to do this was through Personal Projects.
I have done personal projects in the past, and some of them have landed me jobs.
But this time, it is a little different. I want to explore my limits and learn to overcome them- not through studio light but through what is present in front of me.
My January Personal Project is- Winter Sun.
Winter Sun:
Winter is a resting time- but at the same time, it is budding with its own colors and beauty. In my part of the world, it does not snow, but winter does have a grip on us. During winter storms, it rains, and temperatures riches to freezing in the early morning hours.
The sun casts a spell at noon and late noon, and an intricate dance of light and shadows is displayed all over.
The light inspired me to come up with a Personal Project about the Winter Sun.
My main focus during this project was on five aspects of the winter season:
The soft play of shadow and light.
Resting and decay during the winter season.
Colors and florals this time of the year.
Warmth of fire.
Winter storms in the desert.
Below, you will find images that focus on these tree aspects of the project. I hope you enjoy it.
Soft Shadow Play:
Whether the sunlight is peaking through a window gently reflecting itself on the window or creating a bold shadow on the wall, the light has its own way of creating a mesmerizing effect.
Resting And Decay:
During winter, the branches are void and exposed. The fruits of the season are long gone, and the once left behind are now in a state of decay. Winter teaches us the harsh reality of life. And at the same time, it tells us about the vital nature of being in a state of rest.
Colors And Florals Of Winter:
Nature has its own way of adding color to the surroundings in one way or the other. Despite the cold fridge temperature- Flowers do bloom.
Warmth Of Fire:
Winter is not complete without the warmth of wood-burning fire. The warm glow providing comfort from the cold winter winds and the fire crackling sound is indeed a medicine to the restless soul.
Winter Rains:
It doesn't snow in the valley, but we do get rain during wintertime. When it rains- each raindrop brings in its own beauty.
Ending:
This brings us to the end of the Winter Sun. I hope you all enjoyed going through it.
